I went to campus today to meet up with some other finance cats and work through a horrendously complicated and ambiguous case project. I parked in the garage and noticed that it was unusually full for a Saturday. Next I noticed that in aggregate, the cars were remarkably high caliber for college kids and stereotypically feminine (i.e. for chicks (e.g. Volkswagen Beetles, BMW 3.18s, and Camry Solaras)). As I grabbed my bag and headed for the Memorial Union, I found myself in a sea of similarly dressed and meticulously prepared females. Ahhh... sorority rush. After that I spent some time noticing a lot more things.

Observations:
1. Wearing heels is pretty silly unless you really know how to walk in them.
2. Buying the right dress is important, buying the right bra is absolutely crucial.
3. People are silly; in our efforts to differentiate ourselves we attempt the impossible with our bodies. Gravity defying being chief amongst such stunts.
4. When it comes to personality stunts, people want to simultaneously be uniquely amazing and just like everybody else.
5. It seems that women have traditionally been more subtle in negotiating their hierarchies and exerting their power, but perhaps this is beginning to change as people are less restricted by classic gender role definitions.

I've only delved into this site for a few minutes and already I love it. kiehl.paranoidgirl. I don't understand her appellation but I thoroughly enjoy her writing. If you want to dive in, start with the post from September 1st.

Please keep Geremy Fenton in your thoughts and prayers this weekend. He is undergoing a turbulent transition as he begins to take ritalin at age 21 (hehe). He has promised however, that he'll stop taking it for the weekend we all go to Vegas so that he'll be the aggressive, unpredictable, and impulsive guy we've all grown to love. I can't wait.

In 10 Career Secrets of a French Abattoir, the author presents a unique perspective on learning professional fundamentals in a very peculiar environment. And you thought an exchange program in suburban Malaysia wouldn't have a steep learning curve?

In the last issue of Business2.0 (recently merged with eCompanyNow) a new class of workers has been defined: "unemployable". Read up on a problem that many of the former CEO's and VP's of startups and dotcoms now are facing.

Though unlikely, I know some of you might be spending more time reading textbooks than newspaper parody sites. If that's the case, then you probably missed theonion.com's article, "God Finally Gives Shout-Out Back to All His Niggaz". It's good, real good.

"Kinda makes me want to go watch a movie at the Ahwatukee 24."
This week's "What Do You Think?" poll at theonion.com is all about school dress codes that target teens in skimpy outfits.

Undoubtedly Odd: An article at Wired News devoted to a recently deceased dwarf. I am not getting into the little people/midget/dwarf debate-- I choose to stick with the terminology provided. This particular dwarf was one of Howard Stern's pals and was voted one of the world's most beautiful people in an online poll by People Magazine in 1998. Peculiar.

I hope the Wall Street Journal will excuse my copyright infringement, but I had to print that image. It was in the WSJ. Seriously. A whole article about the growing number of young men who choose to shave their bodies. I just love the little stipple art that pervades the WSJ, but thought it was particularly peculiar in this case. I mean really, the stippling is all about clinging to tradition, and the editors stick to it, despite the fact that they are publishing articles about chest shaving. Ironic if you ask me.

So ukazu's got a bit of a group publishing thing going on, so what? Neale at The Road Less Travelled started a weblog that anyone and everyone can post to. Even more ambitious, he has set up a way to get the posting functionality added to the right-click menus of browsers across the world. He's on a mission to get internet cafes, schools, libraries and all sorts of other public computers to be able to post to his weblog so that curious surfers worldwide can drop their two cents.

Well, to all of you who missed out on Sanctuary on Saturday. Too bad, your loss. That nights goin down in the books for all those involved. We partied like rock stars. Even a little bit like rappers with the Cristal (water) spitting incident. _0_ ... T0T ... _0_ ... T0T ... That's me raising the roof for Ryan Hyland for making it all happen. For those of you who don't know the man....don't worry you will. By the way, Sanctuary is on again Wednesday. And Ryan, you're going. You've regained your sanity and I owe you a couple rounds.

I was surfing around tonight and came across a link to a now well-established site that's dedicated to used-to-be-and-still-kinda-is-underground rave culture, various substances, music, etc. reading up on some updates i came across this "cocaine experience story". striking at worst.
