If ain't on this list, it isn't worth your while. Onward, ever fishing for comments:
- The Honda ad was real. I'm a believer!
- Mindfulness In Plain English: A meditation manual by Henepola Gunaratana, free online, for you and me.
- Oil making machine: Turn turkey-guts, plastic bottles, and municipal sewage into the sweet nectar of the industrialized world. So freakin' cool.
- Did you know that major news organizations prepare obituaries before people die? I didn't. CNN screwed up, and you can read Dick Cheney's obituary, a bit ahead of schedule. How weird.
- Is it Friday? It is! The Non-Expert: Poetry for Your Girlfriend
- a/s/l: The White House gets staffers chatting on the web. How quaint.
- Chicken disposal: 30,000 live chickens fly through a wood-chipper.
- Indulgent, over-the-top editorial: A Prayer for George Dubya
After three straight nights of drinking last weekend, Gabe thunders back with an article at AZCentral about his favorite drinking game, Kings. Gabe lays out the rules in a smooth, straightforward fashion and includes some game play examples from his own experiences.
Anil Dash on Carmen Electra (originally Tara Patrick), "If your real name is so uncannily effective at conjuring up images of whorishness that it's been adopted as a porn star's nom de screw, You Might Be A Ho."
Men, women, sociology, psychology, anatomy, sexual success, sexual interest, aesthetics, and politics, all in one weblog post about the different reactions to revelations about masturbatory implements. Eugene Volokh wrote something that I thought was very interesting. If you're mature, open-minded, and curious, check it out. It's not porno, it's sociology.
Blue Collar: The New York Times has published an article titled, "Workweek Woes" that discusses the findings of some recent studies of American and European work habits. Most notably, Americans work, on average, the equivalent of nine extra weeks per year compared to Europeans. On a personal note, my birthday, October 24th, was named Take Back Your Time Day, and it might just prove to be a sick joke. [ thank Jonas ]
Ivory Tower: Steven Johnson has written a brief, exploratory article that asks a few questions about mirror worlds, the concept that micro worlds can be created electronically that fully mirror the outside world. Though the advanced stuff is still mostly academic, you might be surprised at just how much this sort of thinking is beginning to penetrate our everyday doings.
Read up and then let us all know what you think.
Hey dudes. The final theatrical trailer for The Matrix Reloaded is available for download. The trailer is the coolest I've ever pulled off the web. Kill some time and watch it over and over, being careful to keep your action movie inspired drool off the keyboard.
During the prolonged partying this weekend, I contracted Sudden Acute Retardation Syndrom (SARS) and will probably be unable to spell my own name (Pual? Corutney?) for the rest of the day. I encourage you, as I always do, to post something to UKAZU. You know, even if it's just a smart assed comment or two.
