Tell It Like It Is

After looking through the art turned up by his co-workers' kids, Maddox declared, "I am better than your kids." Well done.

Two Quarters Pronto, Claire

Over a beer the other night, a colleague told me about one of the nicer features of the Sprint PCS automated attendant Claire. Apparently Claire doles out $0.50 per dropped call, up to a total of 20 calls. That's $10 off your bill, cowboy. According to my source, all you do is dial *2, press talk, and when Claire asks how she can help, you crisply say, "dropped call credit". Do it 20 times in a row, and then hang up before a real customer service rep gets on the line to ask about the poor service you've been experiencing. So, somebody with Sprint, try this out and share your results.

The Lighter Side
  • A car stero that can kill? Wait - he put it in a Dodge Caravan? Does his mom know?
  • Some people are soooo rude on their cell phones. But not me. And I'm running late, but I'll be there soon.
  • 12" doll, 2" penis -- finally somebody got the proportions right. "Hulk horrrrrrnnny!"
  • The Chicago Tribune lists the 50 Best Magazines. It's a bit of a high-falootin' list, but there are a wide variety of topics and styles represented. Broaden your horizons while sitting on the can.
  • Of all things, a collection of old-timey ski posters. Pretty smart lookin' stuff, I say.

Explanations are Spectacular Failures

Smart guy Weinberger wrote some more straight-talking stuff on groups. I liked the following in particular; it's not revolutionary, but it's well said:

In general, making explicit does violence to what is being made explicit. The analog world – the real world – is ambiguous. That’s a source of its richness. In making a piece of it explicit, we make it less ambiguous and thus lose some of its value and truth.

I've found that certainly applies to UKAZU. Doing UKAZU stuff sure beats explaining UKAZU stuff.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

That's right. I recently aquired login permissions. After several unsuccessful login attempts, Paul was kind enough to let me know that "paulyousuckigiveup" was not, in fact, my username. With that problem solved, I can begin my quest of weblog domination. Thank you and good day.

Shady's Back, Tell A Friend

Well, just tried out that new search thing on the right hand dealy of the site. Typed in "Shady" and got a whole slew of things that either I said or someone said about me. Here's what I thought to myself after reading some of the stuff: "Damn, some of that lame stuff that was said wayback actually turned out to be kinda funny." So in order to have another 15 minutes of entertainment three years from now, I am gonna try to make some posts to give me something to laugh at later. Word.

Needle In A Haystack

You can now search UKAZU. Look to your right. No, not your printer. A little to the left. Yep, Site Search. If you find anything cool, share it with the rest of us.

I also added in all the archives from blogger and before. We wrote some goofy crap back in the day.
