Ad-Free Alternative to Evite

DarkGuest is a website built to handle the invitations and RSVPs for events. It was built by geeks who got tired of advertisements on their invitations and wanted a cleaned up site to handle the sorting of their yeses and nos. They don't finger Evite as the culprit -- how gentlemanly -- but we all know. Better still: after setting it up for themselves, they shared it with the world for free.

It's Getting Thick

Dick Cheney, on the campaign trail:

"It's absolutely essential that eight weeks from today, on Nov. 2, we make the right choice," Mr. Cheney told a crowd of 350 people in Des Moines, "because if we make the wrong choice then the danger is that we'll get hit again and we'll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States."

The same at Fox News.

Also interesting is the work some have done to track the timeline of events leading up to, and immediately following the terror alerts that have been issued since September 11. Also interesting is the alert timeline plotted with Bush's approval rating data. The data is interesting by itself, but drawing conclusions is difficult at best.

Lastly, Rolling Stone has published a piece that harshly calls Cheney to the carpet for just about everything he has done since starting college. It's rough.

Skype Follow-Up

An article talking up Skype hit the New York Times yesterday. More good press. Now I have to check it out.
