So I'm participating in my first "practicum" experience as a school psychology student this semester. Thus far, all of my hands-on experiences (observing classrooms, doing functional behavior analyses, etc.) have taken place at schools where the students come from a high level of poverty. I have learned a great deal from these experiences. However, when being assigned my school for my consultation practicum, I was delighted when my professor asked us to which district we would like to be assigned. I figured I'd go for it and say, "Scottsdale." I wanted to see what the other end of the spectrum looked like. How were the resources, teachers, students, and most of all, behavior problems, different? I found out.
Monday I dealt with my first "behavior problem"! This school is a middle school (6th-8th grade), and all of the students have cell phones. Not only do they have cell phones, but they all have the cell phones with cameras in them. (Can you see where this is heading yet?)
Well, social studies got a little boring for Johnny and his attention started to wander off of his teacher, onto the girl sitting across the table from him. He was looking at her when he remembered that cute short skirt from Hollister he saw she was wearing when she walked into class. He decided he needed another look at it--with his phone's camera. Yes, under his desk Johnny took pictures up the girls skirt.
Then what did Johnny do? Well...this is Scottsdale...of course! He printed out 20 copies of the pictures from his camera on the school's color photo printer in the LIBRARY and posted them around campus.
Awesome.
Gotta love kids. Gotta love schools with resources. Gotta love Scottsdale.
Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, you go and do something like this.... and TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF! John Woo to direct He-Man. Hopefully they'll dub it. And please, let there be hot She-Ra action.
