Rogers Cadenhead: Popesquatter

Rogers Cadenhead, tech author and blogger, did a little domain speculation a couple of weeks back, trying to guess at the name the pope would take. He guessed right and bought BenedictXVI.com, along with five other domains based on the names popes have assumed over the past 300 years. He is now trying to figure out what to do with the domain, and it seems he's having fun with the process. For a bit of the back story, an introduction to Rogers, and a good laugh, check out his appearance on the Today show with Katie Couric.

PostSecret

I stumbled upon the amazing and unsettling PostSecret tonight via Zeldman. PostSecret solicits anonymous postcard contributions that reveal a previously unshared secret.

Each secret can be a regret, hope, experience, unseen kindness, belief, fear, betrayal, desire, feeling, confession, or childhood humiliation. Reveal anything - as long as it is true and you have never shared it with anyone before.

It's startling how each postcard is so totally personal while remaining anonymous. It's not something that I'm used to.

Boom goes the dynamite!

This is equal parts funny and "oooh, poor bastard...", but a video is circulating the internet of a Ball State student television station sports broadcast that went wrong. It's four minutes of awkward that starts with an "oh no," reaches its climax with the phrase "boom goes the dynamite," and culminates with the awkward sign off "yeahh..." Download it, watch it, laugh, and get in touch with your ability to empathize.

Also see the cartoon that went into the school paper, and the local news piece that collected student, professor and professional reactions. Thanks to Dr. Andy for the tip on this one.
