A Birthday Built for Two

Update: The time and location have been changed due to difficulties scheduling such a large group at Sapporo. Check out the revised event details.

Before you get enthralled, disillusioned, or otherwise distracted, know this: it is important that you RSVP by Friday March 22nd at 5:00pm if you would like to attend. Use the comments for this post to accept our invitation or send me an e-mail. Thank you.

"Kelly and Jonas turn 22; UKAZU Crew Gathers in Wild Celebration."

That's what the newspapers will run on Saturday morning after we've finished our party on Friday night. It's been a while since we hit the town like gangbusters and I think it's time we flex our skills again. I've talked to Kelly and Jonas and they're ready. We've made plans. Get your shirt pressed, your shoes shined, and stack some paper -- we're out to prove that 22 isn't the beginning of the end, it's mo betta.

The Game Plan: We are starting the night at 6:30pm at Sapporo. This restaurant is one of the hottest spots in the valley and unlike its North Scottsdale counterpart Barcelona, Sapporo has received rave reviews for its food. Sapporo has three executive chefs and each is responsible for one portion of the three-part menu that contains pacific rim, sushi, and teppanyaki cuisine. Sapporo is also known for having one of the most charming and skilled waiters in the southwest, BJ Ho, in its employ. After dinner we will head into downtown Scottsdale, just in time to get the party started.

I believe in full disclosure: This evening will not be cheap. Dinners at Sapporo generally cost $15-30, and drinks are, of course, extra. Before you lay rubber in search of the comfort offered by a nearby value meal, consider the occasion and loosen the iron-clad grip on your billfold. None of us are rich, but we're gonna part with some hard earned cash in the name of celebration. Personally, I can't think of a better way to spend money. Sapporo is regarded as one of a kind in the valley, and the experience will be fun because it will be unique. Kelly and Jonas will understand if you can't make it to dinner, but they still might hold it against you. Forever.

The details for you kids taking notes:

Who: Everyone and everyone's friends. Really. You're only afraid of going out to dinner with that big ukazu group the first time. After that it's butter on a roll, baby. We're nice to newbies, and even when we're not, we still make them cry. I mean, smile.
What: We'll sit down to a big, flossy dinner and then we'll hit the town.
Where: Sapporo for dinner and then downtown Scottsdale for some partying. [ MAP ]
When: Friday, March 29th at 6:30pm.
Why: Meet me at Sapporo and I'll show you.

Handlin' my bizness, my biznass! Roll out!
I'll be in the heazy, fo' sheazy.

Paul, you can handle my bizness and biznass if you want, but you're gonna have to wait 'til after dinner. I get scared when I see 'dem big teppanyaki knives.

We're not sitting at the teppan tables.

It don't matter. You still can't touch my biznuts in the restuarant.

wouldn't miss it!!! especially since there is a chance miss daley may be my future roomate ;-) hey we could get up and do "POP & LOCK" every morning kelly :-)

I am taking Kelly out for Chipotle.

Jenna is in. Still can't figure out the website. Sigh.

YAY! I'm so excited! But Alex, I DON'T LIKE CHIPOTLE!!! :( Please come to Sapporo instead! :P Jenn, I'm totally down with POP & LOCK in the mornings, but I think Jason needs to be in on that too, because he's been wanting to do that FOREVER! Although THEN kind of dreams would he have? :)

Pauly, I'm won't be able to make it to dinner, but I wanna know where you're going later so that I can meet up with you!

Oh, yeah, I don't want Kelly and Jonas lifting a finger to plan their birthdays, so I'm gonna RSVP them.

Kelly and Jonas will be at dinner. Thank you.

(cue trumpets) Meredyth and Jena will also be in attendance. Thank you.

Hey...don't knock it 'til you've tried it! And you're treading on thin ice, Mister Leubner! For sure, Beth! This being "caught up" thing is not cool! I was planning on doing a table dance on the flaming teppanyaki table, which would have made for some great pics, however, we're not eating at the teppan tables, but I'm sure there will be plenty of other good photo opps!

paul, i know this is far in advance, but i say you plan a "SCRAPBOOKING" party for jason's 22nd birthday...we all know that is what you boys really want deep-down inside...we'll have tons of "POP & LOCK" pictures by then!

I think Pop & Lock is a myth. I have yet to see these storied video cassettes. Produce the tapes and we shall consider the scrapbooking.

Lutz via e-mail makes 10.

POP & LOCK exists! Just check for the tape on beth's desk...darin doesn't fail to produce!

Alex and Stephanie. Alex lives day to day, however, and his spontaneous, nomadic, hedonistic lifestyle might find him in another part of the country on a moment's notice, so we'll keep our fingers crossed that he will actually show up. 26?

Shewmake and Shane also said they're in. Aye-dios-mio, that's veinte-ocho.

Chris RSVP'd. 29 well-wishers. Hot-damn.
