"Kelly and Jonas turn 22; UKAZU Crew Gathers in Wild Celebration."
That's what the newspapers will run on Saturday morning after we've finished our party on Friday night. It's been a while since we hit the town like gangbusters and I think it's time we flex our skills again. I've talked to Kelly and Jonas and they're ready. We've made plans. Get your shirt pressed, your shoes shined, and stack some paper -- we're out to prove that 22 isn't the beginning of the end, it's mo betta.
The Game Plan: We are starting the night at 6:30pm at Sapporo. This restaurant is one of the hottest spots in the valley and unlike its North Scottsdale counterpart Barcelona, Sapporo has received rave reviews for its food. Sapporo has three executive chefs and each is responsible for one portion of the three-part menu that contains pacific rim, sushi, and teppanyaki cuisine. Sapporo is also known for having one of the most charming and skilled waiters in the southwest, BJ Ho, in its employ. After dinner we will head into downtown Scottsdale, just in time to get the party started.
I believe in full disclosure: This evening will not be cheap. Dinners at Sapporo generally cost $15-30, and drinks are, of course, extra. Before you lay rubber in search of the comfort offered by a nearby value meal, consider the occasion and loosen the iron-clad grip on your billfold. None of us are rich, but we're gonna part with some hard earned cash in the name of celebration. Personally, I can't think of a better way to spend money. Sapporo is regarded as one of a kind in the valley, and the experience will be fun because it will be unique. Kelly and Jonas will understand if you can't make it to dinner, but they still might hold it against you. Forever.
The details for you kids taking notes:
Who: Everyone and everyone's friends. Really. You're only afraid of going out to dinner with that big ukazu group the first time. After that it's butter on a roll, baby. We're nice to newbies, and even when we're not, we still make them cry. I mean, smile.
What: We'll sit down to a big, flossy dinner and then we'll hit the town.
Where: Sapporo for dinner and then downtown Scottsdale for some partying. [ MAP ]
