"Your roll, dude."

We're going to hold the first ever UKAZU Gutter Ball Open: Amateur Bowling Fiasco on December 26th. It's going to be somewhere in Le Phoenix. The event will consist of bowling with people who aren't afraid to have conversations with people who aren't afraid to wear shoes that other people wore recently. I've still got some organizing to do, but I need to know who's coming with me. Feel free to invite your friends.

For people who are afraid of bowling, people, and other people's shoes, there will be domestic beer and select imports to ease your jitters. People who are afraid of beer will have to rely on their own fortitude and brace themselves for sobriety.

For those of you who think that all UKAZU events must involve fine foods, there will surely be a wide variety of cultural treats available by vending machine throughout the evening, and until approximately 10pm the snack bar will serve pretzels, french fries, nachos and hot dogs. Extra nacho cheese can be added to any item for $.50, and chili can be added for $1.00.

I will also do my best to ensure that our bowling alley plays rock music, preferably at considerable volume.

Registration for the Open will be open through the 23rd of December, at which point it will be closed. If you want in, which is to say that you don't want to miss out on what is sure to be a bitchin' party, please send me an e-mail with your name and an idea for a team name. Your name will help me remember who my friends are, and the team names will help me get psyched about how badass this evening is going to be.

Please also indicate in your e-mail whether or not you would like nacho cheese and whether you'll be renting shoes. I can't really help with either, but I'm interested; I care about you.

Don't misread me. I'm seriously serious about this bowling thing and I think you should be involved.

Happy Hour

And Billy likes to peel the labels from his bottles of Bud.

Okay, so Sheryl Crow has never once shown up to our Happy (3) Hour(s) on Thursday nights at Mickey's Hangover in Scottsdale, but I'm there every Thursday peeling the labels off my Amstel Light. So if you're ever looking for a good, relaxing, beer-drinking, movie-watching, couch-lounging, feet on the table, $2.50 Amstel, half-price pizza, laid-back time, and it happens to be the fourth day of the work week, then stop by Mickey's Hangover between 5 and 8. Any questions, give me a call.

My Spider Sense says "Movie and Dinner"

You're graduating, you graduated, or you're done for the semester. That's right, you're Grade A Certifiable Badass and it's time to reward yourself for a job well done.

Tonight, we dance!
(picture me, rose in teeth, sliding across the dance floor in tight black pants -- brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrpp! *record skips*)

Alright that's enough tomfoolery for one e-mail. We're gonna go see Spiderman (NYT Review). Kinda early. Then later, we're going to Western Pizza (MAP) for some wicked pizza made by Canadians, eh. And drinks. The Canadians pour beers (yah!) and mix up some liquors too. Full bar, ya know.

Who: Members Only. Hahahahaha... wouldn't that be a change! No, this one's open for everyone, as always. Bring a friend, bring your mom, just leave your salamanders at home for the love of pete. You know who you are.

What: "Cel-e-brate good times, come on!" A movie and dinner. No, not dinner and a movie. If it were dinner and a movie you'd want a goodnight kiss, and I can't just give that sugar away now, sweetheart.

Where: Spiderman at Harkin's Centerpoint 11 on Mill Avenue at 7:00pm. Western Pizza on the south-east corner of 48th street and Indian School (MAP) after that. We moviegoers should be there shortly after 9pm.

When: Uh. Today, dude. See "where". I got overzealous.

Why: This always seems the most straightforward, though when I find out that people stayed home or did something stupid instead, I often attribute my failure to the "why". So seriously this time -- why? Because you like seeing movies during prime time -- it's not so late that the seats are sticky and not so early that you walk out of the theater into daylight. Also because you like Western Pizza. And if you haven't been to a movie theatre or Western Pizza, then goddammit, you crazy Quaker, we're going out on the town.

See you tonight. Call me if you need directions, a good spanking, or emotional solace. Of course, if it's a real emergency, call 911.

Blinkin' Green Jimmy

We've never done a concert with the ukazu crew, and I think it's about time. We're signed on for some Dave Matthew's Band action in May, but before that happens, we need to go to the Green Day/Blink 182/Jimmy Eat World concert that's coming April 19 to America West Arena. I can't give these guys high enough billing. In one night three micro-generations of truly energizing musicians are going to share one venue. That's good news; I love one stop shopping and three for one deals.

It does get a little tricky though; unlike the DMB concert, we don't have the advantage of just pulling up some lawn. We've gotta coordinate and buy ourselves some tickets for America West Arena. The tickets go on sale Saturday March 2nd so I'll need word from you by then. The details are summarized below for those of you who haven't been chewing your information carefully. Once you've pushed aside the chaff (no, it's not all chaff) then post your name in the comments and I'll contact you when it's time to buy tickets.

Gotta love the crowd: Just some of the gang. You know, Mark, Travis, Tom, Billie Joe. I think it'll probably just be the 19,023 of us.
What'll go down: Crazyscreamingjumpingdancinglaughingpunkfest. And then we're gonna go to the concert.
Where, exactly: America West Arena. Nothing funny about that.
What time, Sandy?: The concert is Friday, April 19, 2002 at 7:30pm. Tickets go on sale March 2nd.

Dave is Coming!

Dave Matthews Band, that is, for those of you who can't get into acting like you are a personal friend of the singer! Whatever you like to call him, the group is coming to Phoenix on May 12th, and I think we all should go! I figure we'll definitely need a night out by this point in the year. Finals will be over and summer session will not have started yet, so I don't want any excuses for not being able to come! I have personally never been able to catch the concert in Phoenix, so I've decided to head up the process of getting a group together to go see the show this time around! So make me proud and come with us, because you know I rarely plan events, and I'm going out on a limb for this one! Ok...here's the nitty gritty:

Who: You.

What: The Dave Matthews Band Concert

When: Sunday, May 12th, 7:00PM
We are going to meet at TGI Friday's out in Litchfield at 4:30PM for some pre-concert snacks and drinks. From there we'll caravan out to the concert and try to be at Cricket Pavillion by 6:00PM to get a close spot on the lawn where we can all be together. The gates open at 5:30PM.

Where: TGI Friday's
1559 N. Litchfield Rd.
Goodyear, AZ 85338

Cricket Pavillion
2121 N. 83rd Ave
Phoenix, AZ 85035

Why: Fun?

Tickets go on sale on February 16th at 10AM. I will be buying tickets at this time. If you want a ticket, I will need a check from you before this time. You can give the check to me, or most of you see Paul more often so that might be easier, and I'll have him pass them on to me. The price for lawn seats is $31.50 plus tax and other venue fees. I would expect this to total around $40. If you would feel comfortable giving a blank check, I will let you know the exact amount it will be written for on February 16th!

So...come one, come all! Bring your friends! Let's party Dave Matthews style, however that is!

Kelly "It took me writing this invite twice to get it up here because I somehow managed to delete it in the process the first time, so now you better come" Daley

Launch

I think it's only fitting that the first ukazu event is the ukazu ribbon cutting. No RSVP necessary. See you online, muchachos.
